fancy kitchen on a budget—part I

Life has been a bit hectic lately. On a quest to achieve a fancy kitchen, we have been tortured with too many decisions to make and a long painful never-ending process with countless things going wrong along the way. But, I am so happy with our end result and remodeling is becoming an addiction for my husband and I.

Here are the details… My husband has lived in our house in the fabulous Northeast Minneapolis area since 2006. I moved in last year. The kitchen was the ugliest room and the first room you see when you enter, yet it is the most daunting to improve, so we saved it for last.

For us, no new appliances (we already have stainless steal—thank goodness!) or cabinets were in the budget, so we had to get really creative to update our small 130 square foot kitchen on a budget.

We’ve been working on picking out tile, paint colors, hardware, countertops and our backsplash for a couple of months which I can’t wait to share in “fancy kitchen on a budget—part II!” For now, check out these before and during photos… not so pretty!

So dark and dreary...Our not-so-lovely kitchen

Our backsplash is the metro glass tile backsplash made of recycled glass from The Tile Shop.
