bar la grassa—great for fancy inexpensive night out

After Eliesa’s recommendation to visit Bar la Grassa, I couldn’t resist. My husband and I went there for an early dinner last week. The place is fabulous and fairly affordable for the city! The atmosphere is great and the best part is the option for trying tons of new things. The menu includes many small plates for as low as $4 per plate. We split three small plates and a salad and each had a glass of wine. A very large pour of prosecco was $6.50.

Our menu:
Beet with avocado and citrus salad-$7-delish!
Ricotta and roasted tomato bruschetta-$6-YUM!
Red wine spaghetti with pine nuts-$5 for small plate-amazing on the taste buds and just enough.
Gnocchi with cauliflower and orange-$8 for small plate-great texture and very interesting flavors combined for an enjoyable meal. Mr. Fancy LOVED this dish.

Check out their online menu. Just looking at the menu makes me want to go back. And the service was perfect. Our server not only knew the menu extremely well (we’re vegetarian so always have to ask a lot of questions) but was also super friendly. The best part was the partnership among the staff. We had several people stop by our table to be sure everything was just right. And it was! Live the fancy life!

  1. Gnocchi here is my favorite. I love love this place, its like the price of food at the olive garden, but 500 times more fancy and delish.
